How does Spinal Decompression work?

At Graves Family Chiropractic in Frisco we have over an 80% success rate using Spinal Decompression.

Spinal Decompression works by gently stretching your spine, taking pressure off the disc spaces between the vertebrae. Decompression of the vertebrae creates a negative pressure inside the disc. This vacuum effect sucks the disc bulge or herniation back into the center of the disc and off the nerve root. By decreasing the size of the disc bulge and taking pressure off the nerve root it drastically reduces or eliminates your pain and discomfort.

Spinal Decompression increases vital circulation to degenerated and herniated discs.  This pumps oxygen and nutrition into the damaged disc, stimulating your body’s natural healing process. These nutrients enable the torn and degenerated disc fibers to begin to heal.

We recommend rehab that strengthens the supporting muscles of the spine to keep the pressure off the discs and nerves.  If you wish you can schedule and extra 30 to 60 minutes with one of our three full time massage therapist. By utilizing myofascial release and A.R.T.(active release technique) they are able to decrease adhesions and fibrotic tissue which increases flexibility and oxygen to heal the damaged discs. Having massage available helps decrease pain and tension in the muscles which speeds up the healing process. For severe cases we have TENS units and decompressive back braces as well as nutrition to aid in healing. By having all of these services available we are able to achieve faster and longer lasting results.
